Wild Orchid Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant located on the ground floor of Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort. It serves regional Indonesian dishes, Pan-Asian and Continental cuisines in a relaxed yet elegant setting. Guests can choose indoor dining for a more private and intimate setting or outdoor dining for more laid-back ambiance.
During my stay at Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort, I tried the Tiffin Set Menu offered at Wild Orchid Restaurant. The set menus are available in two variants, the Indonesian Set and the Western Set. Dishes are served vintage style in tiffin containers.
It was a hot and humid night so I also ordered Lemon Mystery, a very refreshing drink of lemonade infused with fresh ginger, lemongrass, lime and honey. I chose the Indonesian Set which consisted of Nasi Goreng, Gado-Gado and Es Cendol for dessert.
A bowl of Emping (gnemon crackers), Krupuk (fried shrimp crackers) and Sambal Paste were served on the side. It reminded me of kropek back home in the Philippines where we dip it in vinegar, garlic and chili.
Nasi Goreng is one of my favorite Indonesian dishes. It is one of the most versatile Indonesian dishes, with diverse ingredients and flavors across the archipelago, and it can be a very simple street food or a gourmet dish in high-end restaurants.
It was my first time to try an authentic Gado-Gado and the one served at Wild Orchid was way better that how I expected it. I like the contrast of crunchy vegetables and the delicate chunks of tofu. The peanut sauce was amazingly delicious, well balanced in sweetness and saltiness.
After I finished my meal, the attentive staff cleared the used plates and food containers from the table and immediately served the Es Cendol. It was made extra special by generously adding jackfruits and shaved melon, and topping with vanilla ice cream.
