This was my first time staying in a Hilton and I was instantly impressed by the welcome amenity consisting of a generous platter of fresh fruits and a wooden tray full of decadent pralines. A handwritten note from the General Manager also adds to the arrival experience.
The Executive Room has the typical guestroom layout one would expect in a luxury hotel. I particularly loved the carpet which blue and yellow colors bring in the relaxing vibe of the South China Sea and the Sabahan sunset. Some of the modern conveniences I enjoyed in my room were the bedside control panel for the in-room lighting and the 47-inch full HD television with local and international satellite channels.
I stayed at Hilton Kota Kinabalu on a Sunday to catch a morning flight the following day. Thankfully, Hilton has invested a lot in providing quality sleep to its guests. I personally experience the Hilton Serenity Bed during my stay at Hilton Kota Kinabalu where I had uninterrupted 8-hour sleep. I really felt well-rested the following day and I didn't feel tired coming from my flight.
The closet cabinet definitely has more than enough space for a week-long business or leisure trip to Kota Kinabalu. Guests are also provided with an iron and ironing board and an electronic safe big enough to fit a laptop. Coffee and tea-making facility is available at the minibar.
The bathroom is in a three-point bathroom layout which includes a sink in the middle, a walk-in shower, and a lavatory on either side. The shower is fitted with a handheld and a rainfall shower head with hot and cold water. A glass wall serves as a divider between the bedroom and the shower.
Body and bath amenities by Peter Thomas Roth is the global standard for all Hilton properties. The complete set includes a facial soap bar, massaging soap bar, body cleansing gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and mouth wash.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay in the Executive Room of Hilton Kota Kinabalu. Being one of the newest hotels in the city, the room has a very modern design and equipped with state-of-the-art technology suited for today's business and leisure travelers. The room is perfect for solo travelers or couples.
