It was a weekend when I stayed at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang. I heard that the dinner buffet at Spice Market Café was very popular among the locals and tourists, and so I decided to give it a try.
I started my dinner with a bowl of noodle soup to warm my tummy. The Noodle station featured a variety of noodles and broth options. I opted for egg noodles in chicken broth and mixed it with chicken breast and mushrooms.
I then went for some sushi and sashimi from the Japanese Station. As mentioned earlier, the buffet spread features an abundance of seafood, and the variety they used for the sushi and sashimi tasted very fresh and naturally sweet.
My favorite stations were the Malay/Nyonya-Baba Station and the Indian Station. From these stations, I got Malay-style Fried Rice, Chicken Sate, Malaysian Chicken Curry, and Indian Potato Curry. The dishes were as colorful as they were flavorful.
Finally, for dessert, I had the Ice Kachang which the staff helped to create for me. This popular Malaysian streetside dessert is made with shaved ice, red beans, condensed milk, and coconut milk. It is the perfect way to end a suptuous dinner at Spice Market Café.
