Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan (武汉香格里拉大酒店) is a luxury hotel located in the Central Business District of Wuhan City, the capital of China's Hubei province. The hotel is surrounded by banks, government offices, and multinational companies, making it ideal for business travelers coming from major cities around China, as well as from other Asian countries.
Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan has the signature Shangri-La elegance design characterized by the generous use of marbles and hardwood in its interiors, coupled with motifs of gold and dark red and touches of oriental design. Entering the hotel lobby, guests will be welcomed by the signature Essence of Shangri-la fragrance.
The hotel anticipated my arrival and I was welcomed by an English-speaking receptionist. As a Golden Circle member, I booked my stay via shangri-la.com. This made my check-in process very efficient. My bags were also sent to my room while I did my check-in.

There are two breakfast venues available at Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan. Café Wu is the main dining venue of the hotel and is open to checked-in and walk-in guests. Reganmian (热干面)
Wuhan is also called the city of breakfast because of the wide variety of breakfast dishes available in the city. The most popular breakfast in Wuhan is the reganmian (热干面), or hot dry noodles in English. It is a noodle dish drizzled with a sesame paste-based sauce and topped with pickled vegetables and chili paste.
Here at Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan, guests can enjoy reganmian at any of the hotel's breakfast venues. Café Wu has a live-cooking station dedicated to reganmian. Reganmian is also offered at the Horizon Club Lounge.

Airport Transfer: Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (天河机场)
- Hotel Limousine Service - The most convenient way to get to the hotel from the airport is to book the hotel's limousine service. Rates start at CNY 495.50 net per way. The limousine service shall be booked at least 24 hours before your arrival date. To book, you can contact the hotel at slwu@shangri-la.com.
- Taxi - A less expensive option is to take a taxi from the airport's arrival area. The taxi fare is around CNY 120.00. Please note that taxi drivers in Wuhan do not speak English, so make sure to prepare a printed copy of the name and address of the hotel in Chinese.
- Wuhan Metro - The most affordable way to get to the hotel is to take the rapid transit system from the airport. Fare is only CNY 7.00
- At the airport station, purchase a single journey ticket/token going to Xianggang Road Station (香港路) of Line 6.
- Take the Line 2 train from the airport and get off at Changqing Huayuan Station (常青花园).
- Transfer to Line 6 and the take the train going to Dongfeng Motor Corporation (东风公司).
- Get off at Xianggang Road Station (香港路).
- Take Exit A and walk towards the hotel (~100m).
Railway Transfer: Wuhan Railway Station (武汉站)
- Taxi - The easiest way to get from Wuhan Railway Station to the hotel is to take a taxi at the arrival area. The taxi fare is around CNY 100.00.
- Wuhan Metro - A less expensive way to get to the hotel from Wuhan Railway Station is to take the rapid transit system. The fare is only CNY 7.00.
- At the train station, purchase a single journey ticket/token going to Xianggang Road Station (香港路) of Line 6.
- Take the Line 4 train from the train station and get off at Zhongjiacun Station (钟家村).
- Transfer to Line 6 and the take the train going to Jinyinhu Park (金银湖公园).
- Get off at Xianggang Road Station (香港路).
- Take Exit A and walk towards the hotel (~100m).
China Railway High-Speed (CRH) Tickets
- Booking your CRH Tickets - I highly recommend that you use Trip.com or the Trip mobile application. Credit cards and debit cards issued outside of China are accepted by Trip.com. To claim your CRH ticket, proceed to the Ticket Office of your train station and present your passport and the reference number from Trip.com.
Getting Around Wuhan
- Taxi - For shorter distances, I recommend taking a taxi. From the hotel, just approach the concierge and tell them where you wish to go. Also, don't forget to ask for a Chinese business card of the hotel. Taxi rides range from CNY 40.00 to 60.00 for short-distance trips within the CBD.
- Wuhan Metro - For longer distances within Wuhan, I recommend taking the Wuhan Metro rapid transit service. Fare ranges from CNY2.00 to CNY10.00 depending on the distance. The nearest subway station from the hotel is Xianggang Road Station (香港路).
Lost in Translation
Taxi drivers in China do not speak English. When taking a taxi to the hotel, make sure you show them the name and address of the hotel in Chinese. You can download the Chinese address card below:
Attractions in Wuhan
- Yellow Crane Tower (黄鹤楼) - It is the most recognizable symbol of Wuhan. It is considered as one of the four great towers of China due to its historical and literary significance. The tower is located within the Yellow Crane Tower Park. The entrance fee to the park is CNY80.00 per person. An elevator brings visitors from the base to the various levels of the tower. From the topmost level of the tower, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and of Yangtze River.
- Wuhan University (武汉大学) - Considered as one of the Cherry Blossom Capitals of the World, Wuhan has thousands of cherry blossom trees planted in various public parks in the city. This makes Wuhan a popular travel destination in China during Spring when the trees go into full bloom. Wuhan University is one of the favorite places by the locals to see the cherry blossoms. The university itself is rich in history and architectural wonders. The university grounds are open to the public starting from 5:00pm every day.
