The Spectacular Room is one of the two lead-in guestroom categories of W Kuala Lumpur (the category being the Wonderful Room). Both lead-in guestroom categories offer 42 square meters of luxury and are available in King Bed and Twin Beds configurations. The Spectacular Room where I stayed in was Room 1417 located on the 14th floor of the hotel.

The main selling point of the Spectacular Room is the panoramic view of the Petronas Towers. I particularly loved watching the busy intersection of Jalan Ampang and Jalan P Ramlee. It makes you feel the heartbeat of the city. If you are a leisure traveler and planning to stay at W Kuala Lumpur, I highly suggest that you book the Spectacular Room.
The closet is conveniently located right next to the entrance door. There is enough space to hang your clothes for a week-long stay. Opposite the luggage rack is an open closet cabinet where you can store your folded clothes. The in-room electronic safe is also located inside the closet.
Consistent with the W Hotels brand, the Spectacular Room combines cutting-edge design with local influences. The feature wall, for example, incorporates design elements from Malaysian batik. Notice also the ornate bedside lamp which is inspired by local beadworks. Lastly, the green pillows on the bed are shaped after the leaves of a taro plant which grows abundantly in Kuala Lumpur.
Similar to my experience at W Taipei, the W Signature Bed here at W Kuala Lumpur was very comfortable. While in bed, it felt like sinking into the thick and fluffy bed topper. The pillows were also very fluffy. The air-conditioning also worked perfectly to cool down the room, making my sleep extremely relaxing under the thick duvet.
Leisure travelers and staycationistas who prefer to relax in the room can keep themselves entertained by watching movies or programs from local and international satellite channels. The Smart TV is also equipped with a sound bar. If you prefer to watch videos from your smartphone, you can wirelessly connect your phone to the Smart TV and enjoy the videos on bigger screen.
I don't usually encourage working while inside the hotel bedroom, but if you are a business traveler who need to catch up on some work after office hours, you can conveniently use the bar table located next to the bathroom. The bar table can also function as a dining table. If you need to work with your laptop for extended hours, you may opt to use the sofa and the coffee table at the seating area next to the window.
Another unique feature of W Hotels is the W MixBar found in every guestroom and suite of each property. W MixBar is basically a minibar which includes additional amenities for making cocktails such as a cocktail shaker and cocktail glasses. W MixBar also include a Nespresso machine and TWG teabags.
Coming back from dinner, make sure to save space for some chocolates. W Kuala Lumpur provides a box of pralines and chocolate bars as part of its turndown amenities. I particularly loved the chocolate coated nuts and the dark chocolate bar wrapped in gold foil.
It amazes me how they were able to fit a four point bathroom in this space without it feeling too crowded. Most impressive of all was the huge bathtub which our friends from Europe and America will surely love. There is also an oversized bath towel!
The walk-in shower has got to be my favorite feature of the bathroom. First of all, the water pressure was strong and the temperature was very easy to regulate. But the coolest thing about the shower was the rainfall shower head installed with a mood lighting.
Guests at W Hotels are provided with Lemon + Sage bath and body amenities by Bliss. The complete set includes shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, massage soap and foaming face wash.
I also loved how generous they were here at W Kuala Lumpur. I called housekeeping to ask for another soap and they sent me two complete sets of the toiletries which I ended up bringing home with me. My favorite items from the set were the foaming face wash and the massage soap.
The Spectacular Room is perfect for solo travelers or for couples. If you are sharing the room with a friend, you may request for a room with twin beds. If you are concerned about privacy inside the bathroom, there is actually a sliding door that will completely conceal it from the bedroom. The water closet is located towards the far end of the bathroom and has its own frosted sliding glass door.
