The most popular choices among locals are the steamed sweet potatoes and purple yam, as well as steamed glutinous rice cakes, steamed pork buns, and friend sesame pancakes. I also though of trying some of the fried dim sums.
Pork Congee with Pork Floss | The Kitchen Table, W Suzhou |
Another local favorite is congee, and there are at least four varieties of congee available on the buffet spread. There's the plain rice porridge, there's pork congee, seafood congee and event a congee mixed with red beans. I had the pork congee which I topped with pork floss. Some locals prefer their congee with pickled vegetables. Congee is also paired with youtiao, also called Chinese fried donuts.
Aozao Noodle with White Broth | The Kitchen Table, W Suzhou |
Noodles are a stable dish in my breakfast routine. The diversity of noodle dishes in Asia is just amazing. Every country, every city you go to, there will be a specialty noodle dish you can try. One such example is the Aozao Noodles which is very popular in Suzhou. This soup dish is available in two variants, the one with a white broth and the other one with a red broth.
Western & American Breakfast Dishes | The Kitchen Table, W Suzhou |
If you are the type who is not so adventurous when it comes to food, then there is always the Western and American station. The Kitchen Table here at W Suzhou has a good selection of sausages and roast meats which you can pair with hash browns, baked potatoes, roast tomatoes and creamed spinach. My top favorite is the bacon which is thick, no too fatty and very meaty.
Fresh Fruits | The Kitchen Table, W Suzhou |
Chinese people are mad about fresh fruits, and here at The Kitchen Table, they serve sweet tropical fruits all year round. It was wintertime when I visited Suzhou and there is an abundance of summer fruits such as watermelon, honeydew and dragonfruits, and they were very sweet.
The Kitchen Table serves breakfast daily from 6:30am to 10:00am and is available for both checked-in and walk-in guests.
