The Deluxe Room is the lead-in guestroom category of Shangri-La Hotel Suzhou. The Deluxe Rooms measure 42 square meters and are located on the 28th to the 46th floors of the hotel, treating guests with panoramic views of the city. I stayed in room 4405 which is a corner room version of the Deluxe Room.

The room has the classic Shangri-La luxury feel, with a warm color theme, floral carpet, dark wood fixtures and Asian inspired decors. Although the floor area is the same, the corner room version of the Deluxe Room feels more spacious, with the sitting area placed near the door, while the bed placed nearer to the glass window.

One of the best things I love when staying in a Shangri-La in China are the generous welcome amenities they provide, especially to the members of the group's Golden Circle loyalty program. In addition to the standard welcome amenity of platter of fresh fruits, I always receive a pot of hot tea waiting for me in my room. Shangri-La Hotel Suzhou even went the extra mile by serving a tray of chocolates and pralines.

The Deluxe Room is available in a King Bed or Twin Beds configuration. Similar to my experience at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur and Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan, I also had an excellent sleep experience here at Shangri-La Hotel Suzhou.
Thanks to the comfortable mattress with well-balanced firmness and softness that perfectly supports the body weight and the toppers the adjusts to the contours of the body. The fluffy pillows were also very comfortable to the neck. It was almost winter time when I visited Suzhou, and the room was well insulated from the freezing temperature outside.
The Deluxe Room is furnished with a full-size executive writing desk on which business travelers can comfortably work with their laptops. High-speed wired and wireless internet connection as well universal power outlets are also available inside the room to make connectivity seamless.
The 40-inch LED television can keep guests entertained during their stay with plenty of local and international satellite channels to choose from. In my case, I just keep the Shangri-La in-room video playing in the background and let it do its magic of making me feel relaxed and at home.

The minibar is fully-stacked with bottled juices, canned beer and soda. There are also snacks available for purchase. Complimentary bottled water, Douwe Egberts instant coffee and Zesta tea bags are replenished daily.

Just like the bedroom, the bathroom is also bathed with plenty of natural light, making it feel more spacious. The bathroom is covered with marbles and has a separate bathtub and walk-in shower.

With two sinks and a spacious counter-top, two guests can use the bathroom at the same time without feeling too crowded. Water pressure was excellent considering the room was located on the 44th floor. Hot water was available in the shower and sink almost instantaneously.

Guests staying in a Deluxe Room are provided with the standard Shangri-La Crisp Mint body and bath amenities consisting of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body soap. The closet is located near the room's door and it stores the iron and ironing board. There is also an electronic safe big enough to fit a laptop.

If I will be staying here at Shangri-La Hotel Suzhou again, I will definitely choose this corner room version of the Deluxe Room over the standard Deluxe Room. As I mentioned earlier, this room felt more spacious. The layout of the room also makes it very convenient to move around. Although the sitting area is located away from the window, I did enjoy the view of the city from the bed.
