In case you missed it, Circles Event Cafe, the all-day dining restaurant of Makati Shangri-La Manila, brought back its best-selling P1,250 Buffet which is available from Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner. The promo will run from February 1, 2019 until March 31, 2019.
During this promotion, Circles Event Cafe will be featuring a wide spread of Mediterranean dishes as part of its international buffet offering. Choices will include dishes from Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Middle East and Northern Africa.
Guests can also continue to enjoy their favorite dishes from the Japanese, Western, Indian, Halal, South East Asian, Filipino and Chinese stations, as well as premium items from the Sustainable Seafood, Carving and Dessert stations.
Guests who are looking for healthier options should definitely check-out the Salad station which features freshly sourced vegetables as well as ready-made salads that go perfectly with savory meat dishes. The Halal station also features Mediterranean salads.

Most of the Mediterranean dishes are located in the Carving and Mains stations. Some of the dishes available during our visit were the Baked Mediterranean Chicken with Lemon, Potatoes and Olives; and the Moroccan Minced Beef-stuffed Tomatoes.

There is also the Mediterranean Baked Barramundi and the Braised Italian Lamb Shanks. The Carving Station also features Lebanese Chicken Shawarma which is made a la minute.
Here is my plate of the Baked Mediterranean Chicken which were very moist and aromatic, the Moroccan Minced Beef-stuffed Tomato which was creamy and refreshing, the Braised Italian Lamb Shanks which was very tender and rich in taste.
Instead of having the meat dishes with rice or potatoes, I substituted the carbs with healthy yet yummy vegetable salads. The savory dishes went perfectly well with the refreshing taste of the salads.
On the side, I had a small serving of pita breads with humus which went well with the Mediterranean Baked Baramundi. The fish was firm and moist and had a naturally sweet taste from the tomatoes.

I also ordered two Lebanese Chicken Shawarmas. It took more than 10 minutes before our shawarmas were served as the shawarma station was quite busy. It was worth the wait nonetheless because they were really super good. The chicken meat made it not too heavy to the taste while the onions and tomatoes added a natural sweet taste to every bite.

The Pasta Station offers three options for pasta sauce and there are also a variety of noodles to choose from. We ordered a Pasta Marinara and a Pasta Carbonara. We also had to follow-up on our pasta dishes despite the station not being too busy. I suggest that you insist on waiting for your pasta instead of having them served on your table.

Here are also some of the non-Mediterranean dishes we tried. The Sustainable Seafood Station features cold mussels, clams and prawns. We enjoyed the prawns cold with a tomato-based dip on the side.
The Japanese station has a variety of sashimi (tuna, salmon, octopus, mackerel), sushi (tuna, salmon, tamago, etc) as well as makis (california, spicy, and philadelphia). I had salmon sashimi and they were very fresh and slightly sweet in taste. There's also tempura near the carving station.
Circles Event Cafe is one of the buffet restaurants in Manila which serves good tasting Indian cuisine. Below is my plate of Lamb Curry, Butter Paneer Masala, and Papadum.
The Chinese station serves a variety of dimsum (steamed or fried) as well as roasted meats. Those Malaysian Prawns were super good and would go well with steamed rice. There is also a noodle section where you can have you customized bowl on noodle soup dish made.
The Dessert Station features plenty of choices of cakes and pastries. Most are chocolate based desserts but there are also a couple of fruity pastries. There is also a chocolate fondue.
The Halo-Halo station is the most popular among the dining guests. Ice cream is also part of the buffet, and it is a good idea to top your halo-halo with your preferred flavor of ice cream. My favorite flavor was the taho ice cream which has a rich creamy soy milk flavor.
The buffet spread can really satisfy your craving for Mediterranean cuisine whether you are looking for the fresh flavors of the Mediterranean sea, the bright flavors of Mediterranean vegetables, the rich taste of meat dishes, to the fragrant spices of the Middle Eastern coast.
For its price of P1,250 per person, I think it is a great value for money considering the great selection and quality of dishes. This is not to mention that free-flowing tea and coffee are also part of the buffet.
