Grand Hyatt Manila Brings the Green Monday Plant-Based Food Movement to the Philippines

The Green Monday movement, which started in Hong Kong back in 2012, promotes the use of plant-based food products as substitute to meat and dairy products. This aims to address the negative impact of the production and processing of animal-based products to the environment, not to mention the health benefits of eating plant-based products.

Following the successful roll-out of Green Monday movement in Singapore by Grand Hyatt Singapore and in Taiwan by Grad Hyatt Taipei, the movement will finally reach the shores of the Philippines this 2019 through the leadership of Grand Hyatt Manila.

Every Monday starting 01 April 2019, guests dining at the Grand Kitchen of Grand Hyatt Manila will be the first ones to sample the tasty dishes prepared with plant-based ingredients such as the Beyond Burger made with gluten-free and soy-free burger patty. The patty did have the taste and texture of ground beef.

Another must-try is the Beyond Sausage which is made with made with peas, fava beans and rice protein. It goes well with Chili con Carne made of Omni Pork, a 100% plant-based ingredient which has 70% less saturated fat, 333% more calcium, 53% more iron, and zero (0) mg cholesterol compared to real pork. Even the cheese used as topping is non-dairy and 100% plant-based as well.

Other food outlets of Grand Hyatt Manila will also roll-out their own Green Monday menu. No. 8 China House for example will be serving traditional Chinese dishes using Omni Pork such as the Mapo Topu with Omni Pork as well as Steamed Pork Buns with Omni Pork. The beauty with Omni Pork is that it was created with the Asian palate in mind, so that the authentic taste of dishes will not be compromised.

This is great news for guests who want to cut down on their meat consumption but are not fond of eating vegetables. Green Monday also provides more options for vegetarians and vegans staying at the hotel or simply visiting the BGC area for business or leisure.
