WEI Restaurant is the all-day dining restaurant of W Xi'an. It features various show kitchens where its expert chefs prepare freshly cooked local delicacies and well-loved international dishes. WEI Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and served both buffet and a la carte dining.
The restaurant has a very modern design which took inspiration from the rich history of Xi'an and combined it with the dynamic and progressive spirit of New York. The most noticeable feature of the restaurant is the ceiling installation which is a structural representation of silken ribbons used in ancient dances.
In some areas of the restaurant, the ceiling installation also resembles the shape and color of bowls used by the locals to eat noodle dishes. This represents Xi'an as one of the culinary capitals of China. It was said that a person's entire lifetime is not enough to try all the dishes of Xi'an.
The main dining area of WEI Restaurant features well-spaced tables with comfortable seating available for different group sizes. Tables can be connected to accommodate bigger groups such as families or friends. There are also individual tables set next to the glass windows. ► BREAKFAST BUFFET AT WEI RESTAURANT, W XI'AN
The people of Shaanxi province, where Xi'an is located, love to eat noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. During my stay here at W Xi'an, I started my morning with a bowl of Qishan Saozi Mian (岐山臊子面). The broth is spicy and sour with the rich umami coming from minced pork. A variety of vegetables are also added such as carrots, potatoes, cabbage, and mushrooms.
The breakfast buffet also features a variety of Cantonese-style dim sum such as shumai (steamed pork and shrimp dumpling), hargao (steamed shrimp dumpling), joong (steamed glutinous rice in lotus leaf), and Chinese tea eggs.
There is also a live cooking station where guests can order freshy made jianbing, a type of rolled pancake stuffed with egg, vegetables, and sauces. There's also a variety of steamed root crops, pickled vegetables, and local cold meat dishes.
There is also a station dedicated to Western cuisine. Some of the choices include sausages, sauteed mushrooms, buttered vegetables, and fried potato wedges. There is also an egg station where you can order fried eggs and omelets.
Another station features freshly baked bread, pastries, pancakes, and waffles. There is also an extensive selection of ice cream flavors. Fresh fruits and chilled fruit juices are also available.
