Conrad Bali » Ocean Suite
The Ocean Suite is the lead-in suite category of Conrad Bali and is among the guestrooms and suites which recently underwent renovation. The new Ocean Suite features a sunlight-filled interior with plenty of earth tone colors and splashes of nautical accents.
The Ocean Suite measures 90 square meters and has a spacious bedroom, separate dining and living area, and balconies facing the Indian Ocean. The Ocean Suite has a beach-front residence feel, making it perfect for families or group of friends.
I visited Bali in the beginning of April this year as part of my month-long birthday celebration, and I chose to stay at Conrad Bali. This is my first time to stay in a Conrad resort, and to make my stay extra special, I decided to book an Ocean Suite.
From the Main Lobby, a member of the concierge assisted me to my suite (Room 4116) located on the fourth floor of the resort's South Wing (Wing I). While walking along the corridor, I was told that my suite is on the top-most floor of the wing and has one of the best ocean views in the resort.
I was also told that my suite is also one of the special versions of the Ocean Wing which is normally reserved for their frequent guests and guests celebrating very special occasions. While touring the living area, the concierge opened the sheer curtains to reveal a private terrace with plunge pool.
The terrace was spacious enough to have a sun deck with sun loungers. The plunge pool itself can fit up to four persons. From here, guests also enjoy a view over the resort's lagoon swimming pool and of the Indian Ocean.
Tables and chairs from the balconies can also be set up here for an outdoor breakfast or for sun-downer sessions over cocktails. In my case, I spent most of my afternoons here in the plunge pool, disconnected from the world and simply enjoying the peace and tranquility of the place.
Conrad Bali only has six of these Ocean Suites with a private pool, so make sure you include a note in your reservation. However, there is no guarantee that your request can be accommodated as it is subject to availability.
Stepping back in to the living area, notice that there are sofas that can comfortably seat up to four persons. It is such a perfect venue for family catch-ups over coffee or tea. I particularly loved how well the A/C kept the indoor temperature to a comfortable level of 20-24 degrees centigrade.
The dining area is furnished with a round dining table with four chairs ideal for families and friends who want to dine at the comfort and privacy of the suite. There is also a small pantry with coffee and tea making facility.
Conrad Bali provides complimentary TWG teabags to its guestrooms and suites. I found six packs in the pantry during my stay, two each of Moroccan Mint, Grand Jasmine Tea and Chamomile. There's an electric kettle to heat water.
Conrad Bali also provides coffee capsules by Java Mountain Coffee, a social enterprise sourcing sustainably grown coffee. The capsule itself is made of biodegradable material. The coffee itself had great earthy aroma and the taste had hints of citrus and nuts.
Moving in to the bedroom, the floor-to-ceiling glass window let in plenty of natural light, bringing life to the colors inside he room. The bedroom is furnished with a king bed, a work desk and a couch with coffee table. The bedroom also has its own A/C which automatically turns off when the sliding glass door is opened.
Similar to the balcony next to the living area, the balcony here in the bedroom also faces the Indian Ocean and offer a view over the resort's lagoon swimming pool and of the beach. In the morning, this is the best spot to admire the beauty of the coastline and enjoy the cool breeze.
The renovation was done perfectly, making the room looking very new and modern. I particularly loved the design of the carpet and the cooling effect of the marine colors used in the bed's headboard, pillows and couch. The wooden floor gives the classic luxury resort feel.
One of the joys of staying in a Conrad is having a free stuffed toy as part of the welcome amenities. Here at Conrad Bali, guests are given a Conrad Monkey. They chose the monkey because Bali is known for the monkeys that freely roam the temple grounds.
When visiting Bali, it is very unlikely that you will be working. None the less, there is a proper work table inside the bedroom. There are universal power outlets next to the table and wifi is able inside the whole suite. The bedroom also has its own LED Television with local and international cable channels.
The closet cabinet is located inside the bedroom. It has plenty of space to hang clothes for week-long vacation in Bali. There's also bathrobes and room slippers inside the closet. An iron and ironing board are also provided. The electronic safe was big enough to fit a laptop and a DSLR camera.
Next to the closet is en-suite bathroom which has a separate bathtub and walk-in shower. The bathroom has a single vanity with plenty of space on the granite counter top for your personal toiletries. There is also a separate water closet with a toilet fitted with bidet spray.
The walk-in shower is lined with marble and is fitted with both handheld and rainfall shower-heads. Water pressure was consistently strong and hot water was almost instantaneous. Water temperature was very easy to regulate.
Mandarin Tea by Shanghai Tang is currently the global standard bathroom amenities for all Conrad hotels and resorts. The complete set includes shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, body soap, hand soap and body lotion. It has the scent of sun drenched orange peels. I find it leaning towards the masculine side and works well as an evening scent.
One of the highlights of my stay here in the Ocean Suite was the sunrise which waked we up every morning. During my stay at Conrad Bali, I was blessed with perfect weather which allowed me to fully admire the sunrise.
If you plan of staying in an Ocean Suite like this one, do note that the Ocean Suite is not located within the Conrad Suite Wing, and guests staying in an Ocean Suite do not enjoy access to the Conrad Suites Lounge which is reserved to guests staying in the Conrad Suite Wing. None the less, my stay here in the Ocean Suite was a very pleasant one.
On the day of my check-out, I had to leave the resort at 5:30am to catch an early morning flight back to Manila. I am glad that Conrad Bali provides a breakfast box to its guests who couldn't stay for breakfast. My breakfast box included a bagel sandwich, a croissant sandwich, fruits and a bottled water.
Thank you very much Conrad Bali for making my stay in the Ocean Suite extra special. I will definitely consider staying in this suite again.
