The Grand Suite is the lead-in suite category of Grand Hyatt Manila. Measuring 74 square meters, a Grand Suite is located at each of the four corners of every floor, guaranteeing guests with a panoramic view of the metropolis. We stayed in Grand Suite 3902 located on the 39th floor and facing the southeast direction.
The Grand Suite's unique L-shape puts both the living room and the bedroom in a corner location where plenty of natural light comes in through the glass curtain wall. Entering the Grand Suite, guests are welcomed by a foyer which leads to the living area where you will find a spacious seating area.
We stayed at Grand Hyatt Manila in April as part of the month-long celebration of my 40th birthday. In addition to the fresh fruits and banana chips (which were placed in the minibar), my welcome amenities also included a birthday cake, some pralines and nuts, plus a bottle of red wine. There was also a birthday card with greetings from the guest services team.
We arrived quite early that afternoon. Fortunately, our suite was already prepared for our arrival as early as 1:00pm. Since our suite includes access to the Grand Club, we opted to have our check-in there.
The coffee and tea making facility includes an Illy espresso machine and an electronic kettle. Complimentary bottled water, Illy coffee capsules and Twinings teabags are provided daily. Other drinks such as soda, juices, beer and liquor are also available inside the minibar.
The living area is furnished with a sectional sofa which can comfortably seat three to four persons. There is a large Smart TV in the living area and it is equipped with a soundbar. The sound quality was pretty good for watching HD movies.
There is also a work desk in the living area. Universal power outlets are available in the multimedia panel located under the table. The desk can also function as a dining table should you wish to order from the in-room dining menu.
Control buttons are located in the foyer to adjust the temperature and fan speed of the A/C. There are also buttons to draw the sheer and block-out curtains. Next to the work desk is a corridor which leads to the walk-in closet and to the bedroom.
There's plenty of storage space for your luggage. Guests staying in Manila for a week-long business trip of vacation will have ample space to hang their clothes in the open shelf cabinet. An iron and ironing board are also provided so you can easily fix those unwanted folds and wrinkles.
My favorite space in the Grand Suite is definitely the bedroom. With glass curtain walls covering two sides of the room, you have a commanding view of the city right in the comfort of the bed. Below is the view of the BGC central business district as seen from the southern side of the bedroom.
It was Sunday when I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Manila. Checking-out on a Monday is perfect because because I can go straight to work from the hotel. Luckily my work shift won't start until 5:00pm so I was still able to enjoy the room until noon time.
What I loved the most was the comfortable bed. Similar to my stay at Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, I had an uninterrupted 8-hour sleep here at Grand Hyatt Manila. If it wasn't for the alarm which I set at 9:00am, I would probably be sleeping until lunch time.
Some of the modern conveniences available in the bedroom are the lights and curtains control panels located next to the bed. There are also universal and USB power outlets next to the bed so you can instantly charge your mobile devices while you are in bed. One of my favorites was the Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker II which allowed me to to set the mood inside the bedroom with my preferred Spotify playlist.
The bathroom is located in the middle of the suite, making it conveniently accessible from both the living room and the bedroom. This equally important when receiving guests in your living area.
I also love the convenience of being able to access the suite's main door from the bedroom through the bathroom. Imagine when you are inside the bedroom and someone rings the doorbell, you don't need to run all the way through the living area just to get to the door.
The bathroom has double vanity with a double-wide mirror and a very spacious marble counter-top. The bathroom is spacious enough for two persons to comfortably move around. The walk-in shower has both hand-held and rainfall showerheads, as well as a marble shower bench. The toilet is equipped with a TOTO washlet, a modern toilet feature rarely seen in luxury hotels in Metro Manila.
The stand-alone bathtub is located opposite the vanity. The water pressure was impressively excellent, considering our suite was located on the 39th floor. Hot water from the shower and the bathtub was almost instantaneous. Bathrobes and bath towels are provided inside the bathroom.
The Green Tea and Cucumber by June Jacobs Spa Collection is the standard bath amenities brand in all Grand Hyatt properties around the world. The complete set includes shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion and hand soap. The scent of the cucumber stands out, which I find very refreshing and smelling clean. The scent is very light and feminine. The smell does not last that long and can be easily masked by a stronger-smelling perfume.
The suite's unique layout and the generosity of living space and natural are its best selling point. I recommend this for Balikbayan Filipinos who expect relatives to visit them while in Manila. The Grand Suite is also ideal for business travelers who need their own living area where they can entertain guests or colleagues for casual meetings.
