Breakfast Buffet at Conrad Bangkok
The Breakfast Buffet at Conrad Bangkok is served daily from 6:00am to 10:30am (until 11:00am during Saturday and Sunday) at Café@2, the hotel's all-day dining restaurant. Guests who booked a bed and breakfast package enjoy daily buffet breakfast for up to two persons, while Hilton Honors Gold- and Diamond-level members staying at the Conrad Bangkok enjoy complimentary daily buffet breakfast for up to two adults as part of their member benefits.
The breakfast buffet spread at Conrad Bangkok includes continental items, breads and pastries, fresh fruits and salads, Asian and Western main dishes. There is also a live cooking station where guests can order noodle and egg dishes a la minute. Free-flowing coffee, espresso, tea and chilled fruit juices are also included in the buffet.
As always, when I am in Thailand, I always order Kai Jiew (ไข่เจียว) or more commonly known among foreigners as Thai omelette. I was delighted to see that they make proper kai jiew here at Conrad Bangkok.
An authentic Kai Jiew must have golden color and crispy edges and this can only be achieved if the egg was fried in a deep wok with plenty of oil. Conrad Bangkok is one of the very few hotels in Bangkok that still prepares Kai Jiew the traditional way.
Another dish I tried during breakfast was the Guay Tiaw Gai Cheek (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวไก่ฉีก) or the Thai Chicken Noodle Soup. This dish uses glass noodles and chunks of chicken. The broth has a mild chicken and garlic flavor. Thai people love garlic and they typically dump a lot of toasted garlic to this dish as topping.
Conrad Bangkok is a participant in the Hilton Huanying program which caters to the preferences and needs of contemporary travelers from China. This program calls for traditional Chinese breakfast items to be part of the breakfast spread.
Conrad Bangkok's Liu Restaurant is responsible for preparing dim sum items, as well as fried rice, fried noodles and congee for the breakfast buffet spread. In addition to these dishes, guests can also enjoy Chinese tea and soy milk during breakfast.
This specific plate includes Yangzhou Fried Rice, Salted Duck Egg and two sticks of Khao Niew Moo Ping (ข้าวเหนียวหมูปิ้ง) or Grilled Pork Skewers which is a very popular street food in Bangkok for breakfast.
If you are not feeling too adventurous to try local dishes, then there is always Western food to the rescue. On my third day at Conrad Bangkok, I did opt for a Western breakfast which included bacon, sausages, ham, potatoes, some buttered vegetables, and scrambled eggs.
Thailand is blessed to have some of the sweetest tropical fruits in Asia, so don't miss the chance to try the watermelon, honeydew, papaya and pineapple. They also have a local orange that makes for a very refreshing fruit juice drink.
The restaurant can get very busy during breakfast time, especially around 8:30am. I suggest to be early like around 7:00am. Nonetheless, the staff of the restaurant managed to attend to the needs of the guests. They immediately clear empty plates from the tables and guests are constantly offered to have their coffee refilled.
Guests who do not have breakfast included in their room package can also avail of the breakfast buffet for THB 720.00 ++ per person. Conrad Bangkok also welcomes walk-in guests who wish to dine for breakfast buffet.
