Bake House is the newly opened pastry shop at the lobby level of Shangri-La The Fort, Manila. It serves bread, savory and sweet pastries, as well as cakes and sandwiches. Guests can then pair their snacks with coffee, espresso-based beverages, tea, and bottled juices.
The interior features the familiar coffee shop design which creates a casual and relaxed vibe. Coffee tables and bar tables encourage casual conversation while power outlets allow for uninterrupted productivity in between meetings and catch-ups with friends.
Bake House is open daily from 6:00am to 9:00pm making it perfect for light breakfasts, coffee breaks and even for after-dinner caffeine fixes. Prices are also affordable with pastries starting at P45.00 and coffee from P130.00. Free Wi-Fi connection is available courtesy of the hotel.
During my recent stay at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila, I decided to spend my afternoon at Bake House to have coffee and sample some of its pastries. I went for my usual Flat White which was very affordable at P165.00. They use a special blend of coffee beans by Toby's Estate which makes for a rich-tasting coffee with hints of cocoa and caramel. I paired the coffee with Pasteis de Nata (P45.00) which is one of the best-tasting Portuguese-style egg tarts I tried in Manila.
Flat White & Nutella Croissant | Bake House, Shangri-La The Fort, Manila |
I loved the Flat White so much that I returned the same week for it. On my second visit, I paired the coffee with the Nutella Croissant (P95.00). It was flaky and buttery and generously topped with Nutella and chunks of macadamia. The rich coffee flavor perfectly matched the sweet and chocolaty taste of Nutella.

Another pastry I tried was the Apple Turnover (P85.00) which is a type of Danish pastry that is filled with granny smith apple compote and cream cheese. Its natural sweetness with hints of cinnamon reminds me of Christmas and I think this will go well with the signature dark chocolate drink of Bake House.
Almond Croissant | Bake House, Shangri-La The Fort, Manila |
Among all the viennoiseries I tried, my top favorite is the Almond Croissant (P95.00). The warm, flaky and buttery croissant was filled with creamy almond filling and then topped with almond flakes. The smell and aroma of it reminded me of Paris and made me want to pair it with Espresso (P110.00).
There is so much more to try from Bake House including some of the cakes created by Chef Anthony Collar, the Chief Patissier of Shangri-La The Fort, Manila. I also want to try their sandwiches and savory pastries on my next visit. If you have friends and family who love pastries, Bake House is definitely one of my top recommendations.
Bake House also has its own line of merchandise including the KeepCup glass tumblers (P995.00) as well as the Bake House branded Bamboo Tumblers (P1,100.00). These also make for a perfect gift for your coffee and tea-loving friends and relatives.
