Pre-Pandemic Feature
Vasco's is the main breakfast venue of Hilton Kuala Lumpur. It serves breakfast buffet daily from 06:00am to 11:00am and caters to both checked-in guests and walk-in guests.
Guests who booked a breakfast-inclusive room rate can enjoy the daily breakfast buffet during their stay. For Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members, you can also avail of your complimentary breakfast benefit at Vasco's Restaurant by selecting Breakfast as your preferred MyWay Benefit.
The breakfast buffet features an extensive selection of Continental, Western, Malay, Chinese, and Indian breakfast specialties. The breakfast buffet also includes free-flowing coffee, tea, chilled fruit juices, and fresh fruit juices. Here are some of the breakfast items I tried during my three-day stay at Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
I always start my day with Teh Tarik which I pair with local rice cakes. Some of the rice cakes I tried during my stay were the Kueh Dadar (stuffed with caramelized cocout) and the Kueh Ondeh Ondeh (filled with molten palm sugar and coated with grated coconut).
I also tried the Kueh Lapis (multi-layered steamed rice and coconut cream cake). Kueh Talam (two-layered rice and coconut cream cake), and Pandan Che Ku Kueh (tortoise-shaped rice cake filled with mung bean paste).
Curry Mee is a noodle soup dish I always order for breakfast here at Hilton Kuala Lumpur. It had a rich, spicy and, creamy broth, and is topped with shredded chicken, string beans, bean sprouts, and tofu puffs. Instead of a hardboiled egg, I prefer to add a poached egg to my curry mee.
No breakfast in Malaysia is complete without Nasi Lemak. This fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk is eaten together with hardboiled egg, sliced cucumber, peanuts, ikan bilis (fried anchovies), sambal (chili paste), and stewed meat or curries. My favorites are kari ayam (chicken curry) and rendang daging (beef rendang).
If you prefer non-spicy food for breakfast, you can try out the dishes served at the Chinese station. They have congee, fried rice, stir-fried noodles, steamed seasonal vegetables, as well as steamed and fried dumplings. All dishes served here at Vasco's are pork-free.
I always end my breakfast with a plate of cut fruits. I select a combination of citrusy and sweet fruits to help cleanse the palate of any lingering savory flavors. I particularly love the belimbing (star fruit) because of its crunchy texture and well-balanced sweetness and sourness.
