Conrad Koh Samui » 1-Bedroom Waterfront Pool Villa
The One-Bedroom Waterfront Pool Villa is the lead-in category of the all-villa resort Conrad Koh Samui. It measures 130 square meters, which is quite impressive for this category. It has a spacious bedroom, an equally spacious marble bathroom, a private terrace and a 10-meter infinity pool facing the Gulf of Thailand.
The terrace is accessible from the bedroom and from the bathroom. I was lucky to have perfect weather during my stay. From here, you can hear the sound of the waves and the gentle rustling coconut leaves. The highlight was the endless blue waters and blue skies with the Koh Ha (five islands) as the centerpiece.
With its own swimming pool, mosts guests here at Conrad Koh Samui spend most of their time in their villas. That was exactly what I did. Privacy wasn't a concern at all. The villas are well-spaced from each other, and the perimeter walls effectively block the direct line of sight from other villas.
Similar to my stay at Conrad Bali, my welcome amenities here at Conrad Koh Samui included a platter of fresh fruits and a bag of macarons. Thailand is truly blessed with delicious fruits. The mangosteens here at Conrad Koh Samui were as sweet as the ones I enjoyed at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok while the Thai oranges were as sweet and juicy as those I tried at Conrad Bangkok.
I admit that I don't enjoy staying outdoors, especially so on a sunny day. During my stay here at Conrad Koh Samui, I just stayed in my bedroom until 4:00pm when the breeze outside is much cooler and the sunlight was no longer too harsh to the skin.
The villa's air-conditioner worked perfectly to keep the indoor temperature within the comfortable range of 20ºC to 24ºC. After breakfast, I spent most of my morning in bed while watching Netflix on my phone. The resort's wifi connection was decently fast enough to watch a movie with no interruption.
The villa has an HD television with local and international cable channels, including premium and HD channels. The minibar is located below the TV and it was fully stocked with juices and soda, as well as beer and liquor.
There's a coffee machine and an electronic kettle for heating water. Guests are supplied with complimentary BonCafe coffee pods and premium Dilmah teabags which are replenished daily. Bottled water is also provided daily.
During my stay at Conrad Koh Samui, I exclusively ordered room service for lunch and dinner. The seating area inside the bedroom was actually very comfortable for dining. The in-room dining menu has a wide selection of America, Italian, Asian and local Thai dishes.
Since I was in Koh Samui, I made sure I sample some of the Southern Thai dishes available from the menu. One of the dishes I loved was the Gai Phad Med Ma Muang which is a spicy stir-fry dish with chicken and cashew.
Other dishes I tried were the Gaeng Massamun Nuea which is a beef dish braised in Massamun curry, as well as the Gaeng Panaeng which is a red curry dish with pork originating from Southern Thailand. For every meal, I always ordered the refreshing Lemongrass Iced Tea.
Here is the view from inside the bedroom at around 2:00pm. As you can see, the sunlight is too intense and swimming is not advisable as the ultraviolet level at this time is dangerously high.
Like what I did, I recommend that you try out the Conrad Spa and schedule your appointment between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. By the time you are done, it will already be safe to use the infinity pool.
The en-suite bathroom is almost as spacious as the bedroom. So much space to comfortably move around. It has a circular soaking tub which can fit up to two persons, perfect for couples. In my case, I had warm bubble baths in the morning after breakfast and in the evening before I eat dinner.
The bathroom also has a spacious shower cubicle fitted with a hand-held shower and an ultra-wide rainfall shower. Water pressure was excellent and hot water was instantaneously available.
Just like in any Conrad hotels and resorts, guests here at Conrad Koh Samui are supplied with body and bath amenities by Shanghai Tang, but instead of disposable plastic bottles, bath amenities were provided in clay bottles with pump dispensers.
As always, staying in a Conrad property means an excellent sleep experience for me. Being on a vacation like this one, I take every opportunity to have quality sleep. Here at Conrad Koh Samui, only the chirping sounds of the bird will wake you up in the morning.
If it were not for the breakfast, I wouldn't have to get up too early in the morning. If you are not a morning person, like me, you may want to skip the buffet breakfast and just order in-room breakfast. The sun rises from the other side of the island, and the villa's terrace is actually perfect for breakfast.
In case you are wondering, guests staying at Conrad Koh Samui receive a turtle stuffed animal not as a welcome gift but as a souvenir given upon checking-out. So don't be surprised if you don't receive one upon arrival or after turndown service.
Overall, I absolutely loved my stay here in the One-Bedroom Waterfront Pool Villa. There is truly no reason for you to leave the villa during your stay. Who needs the resort's swimming pool if you have your own private infinity pool. No need to stress yourself with what to wear if you can just order room service.
