In a recent press release by Marriott International, the hotel group announced that it expects to open 14 more properties in the Philippines by the end of 2024. These include properties located in Manila, Caticlan, Cebu, Davao, Mactan and Palawan. This expansion will potentially make the Marriott group as the largest international hotel chain operator in the Philippines.

This will also stimulate competition in the domestic hospitality market and will support the fast growth of tourism in the Philippines. This is also great news to members of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program as they will now enjoy their member benefits in more properties across the country. Other Marriott Bonvoy members from abroad will also be encouraged to travel to the Philippines.

At the moment, there are only four Marriott properties in the Philippines: Manila Marriott Hotel, Clark Marriott Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo, and Sheraton Manila Hotel. According to the press release, there will be new-build and re-branded properties set to open from 2019 to 2024, including:
- Sheraton Manila Bay (2019) - currently Pan Pacific Manila, the property will rebrand to Sheraton on October 1 but will undergo an extensive renovation, and creation of a new executive lounge and fitness center
- Four Points Palawan Sabang Beach (2020) - I suspect Sheridan Beach Resort in Palawan will rebrand to Four Points, according to the press release, the property will undergo an USD8 million renovation
- Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort (2020) - expected to open in June 2020 according to the hotel's website
- Ritz-Carlton, Manila (2021) - currently Maxims Hotel, this property will rebrand to Ritz-Carlton, marking the debut of the Ritz-Carlton luxury brand in the Philippines
- The Westin Manila Sonata Place (2021) - located in Ortigas Center
- Marriott Resort & Spa Caticlan (2021) - located in Caticlan, next to Boracay Island
- Courtyard by Marriott Caticlan (2021) - an integrated resort with a world-class water park
- Courtyard by Marriott Cebu (2021) - singed in May 2018 and expected to open in April 2021
- Element Palawan Puerto Princesa (2024)
