Congee with Youtiao and Pork Floss | Garden Kitchen, Taipei Marriott Hotel |
I started my morning with a bowl of plain Congee which I topped with Youtiao (fried dough stick) and Pork Floss. This warm rice porridge is also best served with salted egg or century egg. I also paired this with a mug of hot soy milk.
Dan-Zai Noodle | Garden Kitchen, Taipei Marriott Hotel |
The Dan-Zai Noodle (also called danzi mian) is the signature noodle soup dish served for breakfast at Garden Kitchen. The dish originated in the city of Tainan (southern Taiwan) and is made of oil noodles in shrimp broth, and topped with minced pork, bean sprouts, shrimp, and coriander. Garden KItchen's version is made extra special with fish balls and braised pork.
Omelet, Toutiao and Shaobing | Garden Kitchen, Taipei Marriott Hotel |
This plate included a Taiwan-style Omelet (egg with scallion), Youtiao (fried dough stick), and Shaobing (fried flatbread). I also added a variety of steamed dumplings. The omelet is eaten with the flatbread while the fried dough stick is dipped in hot soy milk.
Fresh Fruits | Garden Kitchen, Taipei Marriott Hotel |
Taiwan produces really good quality fruits which are showcased in the buffet spread. The dragonfruits, pineapple, and honeydew were very sweet while the oranges and watermelon were very juicy. You can also request freshly pressed fruit juices.
In addition to the dishes I featured here, the breakfast buffet at Garden Kitchen also includes a wide selection of Continental Breakfast items, including freshly baked bread, pastries, cereals, cold cuts, and premium cheeses.
There were also English Breakfast items such as bacon, sausages, baked beans, baked tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, and hash browns. A selection of Asian hot dishes is also served. There's a section dedicated to steamed dumplings.
As mentioned earlier, there is an Egg Station where you can order egg dishes cooked to your preference. There is also a Noodle Station where you can have a noodle soup customized with your choice of ingredients. Showcased in the middle is the Fresh Fruits and Salad Station.
