Waldorf Astoria Chengdu (成都华尔道夫酒店) is a luxury hotel located in Chengdu, the capital of China's southwestern province of Sichuan. Waldorf Astoria Chengdu opened in July 2017, making it the third Waldorf Astoria in China. Hilton Worldwide celebrates the opening of Waldorf Astoria Chengdu as its 200th property in Asia-Pacific. Waldorf Astoria is one of the two luxury hotel brands of Hilton Worldwide.
Waldorf Astoria Chengdu forms part of in99 Plaza, a mixed-use development located in the new financial district of Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone. This development also includes office towers, apartment towers, and a high-end mall that houses restaurants and international luxury brands.

The interior of Waldorf Astoria Chengdu features an Art Deco-inspired design which was beautifully executed by interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud by combining classic elegance with modern luxury. Some of her works include the Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta and the recently completed renovation of Raffles Singapore.

Similar to the design of Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, guests arriving at the hotel are welcomed by the Concierge at the Lower Lobby and are led to an elevator that will take them to the Sky Lobby located on the 50th floor of the hotel tower.
I rarely take photos inside the elevator but the elevator here at Waldorf Astoria Chengdu really amazed me. The dark colors, geometric patterns and the splashes of gold really captured the art deco inspiration of the brand.

Check-in time at Waldorf Astoria Chengdu is at 3:00pm while check-out time is at 12:00pm. I arrived at the hotel around 1:00pm and fortunately, my room was already prepared. The check-in process was quick and efficient. At check-in, I requested a late check-out the following day and I was granted late check-out until 2:00pm.

All fitness and wellness facilities of Waldorf Astoria Chengdu are conveniently located in the same floor (48th Floor). Available 24 hours a day, the Fitness Center features state-of-the-art workout equipment with integrated monitor displays and music docking stations so you can continuously listen to your favorite playlist while doing your 1 hour run on the treadmill.
The hotel also features a heated indoor swimming pool. With a full length of 25 meters, this Olympic-size swimming pool is ideal for morning laps or a leisurely swim with friends or family. Other wet facilities which guests can enjoy during their stay are the steam room, sauna, ice shower and salt rooms.
The best way to end your adventure or work week in Chengdu is to have an indulgent massage at the Waldorf Astoria Spa. You can choose among classic body massages, body treatments as well as their specially curated spa packages. The spa features spa amenities by June Jacobs and Valmont.
► WALDORF ASTORIA CHENGDU: TRANSPORTATION & DIRECTION
Waldorf Astoria Chengdu is located around 15km from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU), 20km from Chengdu Railway Station, 14.6km from the Chengdu East Railway Station, and 2.4km from Chengdu South Railway Station. The hotel stands along Tianfu Avenue North and is accessible by taxi and subway.
Airport Transfer
- The most convenient way to get to the hotel from the airport is by taking the hotel's limousine service. The fee is around CNY600.00 per way.
- Alternatively, you can also take a taxi from the queue at the arrival area. Taxi fare is around CNY50.00 per way.
- Chengdu Airport is also connected to the Chengdu Metro subway network but I don't recommend taking the subway if you have luggage with you.
Railway Station Transfer
- The nearest railway station is Chengdu South Railway Station which is just a short taxi (2.4km) ride away to the Waldorf Astoria Chengdu.
- The majority of high-speed trains arrive at the Chengdu East Railway Station which is 14.6km away from the hotel, about the same distance as the Chengdu Airport. You can arrange a limousine service with the hotel (CNY600 per way) or take the taxi (CNY50.00 per way).
- All railway stations in Chengdu are also connected to the Chengdu Metro subway network, but for more convenience, I still recommend that you take a taxi instead.
Moving Around
- Without carrying your luggage with you, the smartest way to get around Chengdu is by the Chengdu Metro subway. The nearest station to the hotel is the Financial City station of Line 1. All signages inside the Chengdu Metro are in bilingual Chinese and English and are color-coded.
- Taxi is, of course, a more convenient way to get around. You can ask the help of the concierge if you don't speak Chinese.
