Aloft Guangzhou Tianhe caters primarily to domestic travelers thus the majority of the dishes offered in the breakfast buffet are Chinese Cuisine. Aloft being an international hotel brand, there is also a good selection of Continental (bread, pastries, cereals, cold cuts, cheeses) as well as Western breakfast items (sausages, ham, bacon, hashbrown, baked beans).
There is also a Live Cooking Station where you can order eggs and omelets cooked to your preference. Noodle soup dishes are also available and can be customized with your choice of noodle, broth, and toppings. Whenever I am in China, I always go for the local specialties. Below are some of the dishes I tried.
Rice Congee (粥) is one of the most common breakfast dishes not only in China but in most countries in Asia. Congee in China is usually served plain, but may also be cooked with meat or vegetables. You will then choose your preferred seasoning and toppings. I paired my rice congee with Salted Duck Egg (咸鸭蛋) and Youtiao (油条) or fried breadstick.
Breakfast in China is not complete without a bowl of Noodle Soup. I had egg noodles cooked with mushrooms in pork broth and topped with pork balls and savory minced pork. I finally topped it with chopped spring onion and chili paste. I then paired my noodle with steamed sweet potato, corn, and pork barbeque bun.
Here is my breakfast on my third day at Aloft Guangzhou Tianhe. I skipped the noodles and went for a meal of Fried Rice, Sauteed Bitter Gourd, Smoked Fish, and Fried Egg. In most Asian countries, fried eggs are preferred to be cooked golden brown with crispy edges. Western-style fried eggs are also available at the Egg Station.
Here's another plate of a Fried Rice breakfast meal which includes Steamed Broccoli, Chicken Sausages, Bacon, Fried Egg, and Salted Duck Egg. Tea, coffee as well as cappuccino and latte are served during breakfast. Fresh fruits, as well as chilled fruit juices, are also available.
