Tapz is the lobby lounge and bar of DusitD2 The Fort, Manila. At daytime, they serve sandwiches and other light snacks, while in the evening, they offer tapas to be paired with cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits. Tapz is located on the ground floor of the hotel, right across from the Department Store entrance of SM Aura Premier.
Tapz has a very relaxed atmosphere which makes it ideal for casual meetings and socializing with friends and colleagues. It has a young vibe that complements the vibrant spirit of the hotel and BGC as a whole.
We browsed through the drinks menu which included some Tapz signature cocktails as well as classic cocktails. We went for Whiskey Sour which the bartender readily prepared for us while we choose our preferred table.
The evening menu also has a handful of offerings from tapas to cold cuts, salads to grilled sandwiches, to the much heavier meat dishes and tapas. We first ordered the Lengua (₱488++) which is their tapas version of the Filipino-Hispanic dish.
The lengua (Spanish for tongue) was served in cubes instead of slices to make it look more appetizing. It was served with sauce ravigote and baby potatoes. The slightly acidic and refreshing taste of the French sauce effectively removed the gamey taste.
We also tried one of their grilled sandwiches. The Ritz (₱358++) is a forest ham sandwich layered and coated with Emmental cheese before being grilled and served. It was like eating sandwich dipped in a very thick and rich cheese fondue. I goes very well with wine.
