► BREAKFAST BUFFET SPREAD AT FOOD EXCHANGE MANILA
Egg Station - Selection include hard-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sunny-side eggs, poached eggs, and custom-made omelets with your choice of ingredients.
Noodle Soup Station - There are three choices of noodles. The most common are egg noodles, vermicelli, and flat rice noodles. Noodles are then cooked with your choice of vegetables and other ingredients and served with the broth of the day. You can also adjust the taste of your noodle soup dish with condiments and seasonings.
Rice Congee - Unseasoned rice congee is served and guests can customize their congee with their choice of toppings and condiments. If you want your congee with meat flavor, you can ask for a small bowl of broth from the noodle station and mix 2-3 tablespoons of the broth into your congee.
Dimsum Station - Located next to the noodle soup station is the dimsum station. There are two to three dimsum choices available during breakfast. They serve very good siomai here at Food Exchange Manila. Choices vary every day.
Canadian Corned Beef - One of the highlights of the breakfast buffet at Food Exchange Manila is the Canadian Corned Beef which the restaurant makes in-house. Their corned beef is very chunky yet very tender and juicy. Needless to say, it is very different from the canned version. They also have Canadian Bacon which is thicker, meatier, and less fatty than the usual bacon.
Sausages & Grilled Vegetables - There are two to three choices of sausages available at the buffet. They usually serve chicken sausage, pork sausage, bratwurst, and Nuremberg sausage. Sausages are usually accompanied by grilled vegetables such as mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, tomatoes, and pumpkin.
Indian Station - Food Exchange Manila is one of the few hotel restaurants that serve Indian cuisine during breakfast. Most of the choices are vegetarian dishes such as Dal Makhani, Vegetable Curry, Vegetable Biryani, Idli (rice cake), Paratha, Poori (deep-fried bread), Uttapam (savory pancakes), and Sambar (vegetable stew). There is also Masala Chai (tea) available at the Indian Station.
Filipino Station - There are about six Filipino dishes available at the Filipino Station plus Fried Rice and Steamed Rice. Breakfast favorites such as Adobo, Longanisa, Tocino, Tapa, Daing na Bangus, Fish Tinapa, Pancit Canton, Pares, Bistek Tagalog, and many more, are available on rotation.
Middle Eastern - The breakfast buffet also includes some Middle Eastern dishes such as Pita Bread, Hummus, Moutabal, and Babaganoush. Ther salad station also includes pre-made Middle Eastern salads.
French Pastries - The French heritage of the Novotel brand ensures that guests enjoy top quality French pastries and viennoiseries. I particularly love their danish pastries and pain au chocolat.
Continental Items - choices include freshly baked bread (rye bread, focaccia bread, baguette, multi-grain bread, raisin roll, soft roll, pan de sal), jams, cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, muesli, and yogurt.
Fresh Fruits - There are three to four choices during breakfast buffet. They usually serve watermelon, melon, honeydew, pineapple, and papaya.
Fresh Juices - some of the choices available are orange, dalandan, watermelon, melon, honeydew, pineapple, carrot, beetroot, cucumber, and celery.
Unlimited Drinks - The breakfast buffet includes free-flowing drinks black coffee, cappuccino, flat white, and tea. Drinks are offered by the restaurant staff as soon as you are seated and you can order again if you want another cup. Chilled drinks such as iced tea and fruit juices are also available in the buffet.
We have already stayed here at Novotel Manila Araneta City countless times and the breakfast buffet at Food Exchange Manila really completes our stay experience. Below are some of the breakfast items we tried since the hotel opened in 2015.
► BREAKFAST BUFFET: OCTOBER 2015
This plate include dishes from the Western Station including potato wedges, Nuremberg sausage, Bratwurst, grilled mushrooms and zucchini, and grilled tomato stuffed with bacon. I also tried a variety of bread such as rye bread, multigrain bread, and baguette.
► BREAKFAST BUFFET: AUGUST 2016
As mentioned earlier, I love the Danish pastries and pain au chocolat served in the buffet. In addition to French pastries, the buffet also has muffins and Filipino pastries such as Ube Ensaymada and Bibingka (baked rice cake).
This plate consisted mostly of Filipino dishes such as garlic fried rice, pork adobo with hard-boiled egg wedges, and bistek tagalog. I also got crispy bacon from the Western Station.
► BREAKFAST BUFFET: JUNE 2017
This plate is a mix of Filpino dishes (beef tapa, pork longanisa, daing na bangus) and Western dishes (pork sausage, Canadian bacon, spicy chicken stew).
► BREAKFAST BUFFET: JANUARY 2018
This plate has a mix of mostly Western dishes such as Nuremberg sausage, Canadian bacon, Canadian corned beef, and scrambled egg which I enjoyed Filipino-style by pairing them with garlic fried rice and pancit canton (stir-fried noodles).
► BREAKFAST BUFFET: NOVEMBER 2019
This is an all-Filipino breakfast consisting of garlic fried rice, pancit canton (stir-fried noodles), pork tocino, beef pares, chicken adobo and fish tinapa (fried smoked fish).
► BREAKFAST BUFFET: JANUARY 2020
I started my breakfast with rice congee (porridge) which I topped with chicken breast, century egg, and chopped green onions. To give it an Indonesian touch, I added roasted peanuts which I got from the Indian station. I love the crunchy contrast the peanuts give to the congee.
This time, I skipped the Filipino dishes and went for Western dishes including Lyonnaise potato, grilled vegetables, scrambled eggs, roasted chicken and Nuremberg sausages.
I ended my breakfast with a plate of fresh fruits (watermelon and melon) and paired it with fresh orange juice.
