Greetings to IHG Rewards Club members in the Philippines! As we prepare to transition to a more relaxed Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), some of you may already be planning your next staycation or workation. In the meantime, let me share with you some good news from IHG Rewards Club.
IHG Properties in the Philippines | Required IHG Rewards Club Points to Redeem a Reward Night |
|
Fixed | Dynamic | |
Holiday Inn & Suites Makati ► | 30,000 | 12,500 - 30,000 |
Holiday Inn Manila Galleria | 20,000 | 10,000 - 20,000 |
Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria | 25,000 | 12,500 - 25,000 |
Holiday Inn Express Manila Newport City | 25,000 | 12,500 - 25,000 |
Holiday Inn Baguio City Centre | 20,000 | 12,500 - 20,000 |
First, IHG has rolled out the Dynamic Reward Nights scheme to the Philippines and other locations around the world. Previously, there is a fixed number of IHG Rewards Club Points required for us to redeem a free night in an IHG property. With this change, the number of points needed to redeem a free night will fluctuate depending on the date and occupancy rate of the property. Here in the Philippines, there is an average of 50% reduction of points needed for redemption.
Reward Night for a Weekend Staycation in September 2020 |
In the above example, I checked the IHG Rewards Club Points needed to redeem one night in IHG properties in the Philippines for all the weekends (Saturday-Sunday) of September 2020. As you can see, all properties already reflect a reduced number of points required for redemption.
On the first weekend of September, the required points fluctuated higher at 20,000 for Crown Plaza Manila Galleria. We can see the same for Holiday Inn Express Manila Newport City which fluctuated higher at 17,500 on the third weekend of September. Both are still lower compared to the original 25,000 points required to redeem a free night in both properties.
The main takeaway here is that we are now able to maximize the value of our IHG Rewards Club Points by using them on dates when the required number of points for redemption is at the lowest possible.

If you haven't received an email from IHG Rewards Club yet, my second good news for you is that the membership tier you earned in 2019 will be extended until January 2022, giving an additional year to enjoy your IHG Rewards Club benefits.
Lastly, IHG Rewards Club has also reduced the criteria required (nights or points) by at least 25% to qualify for a higher membership tier this 2020. For example, if you are aiming for Platinum Elite membership this year, you will only need 30 qualifying nights instead of 40 qualifying nights.
With these new changes in the IHG Rewards Club program, having weekend staycations in Manila or weekend trips to Baguio will be more rewarding than ever before. And when it is safe to travel again, the flexible value of our IHG Rewards Club points will open up more destinations and properties for us to experience.
