Room Feature: Corner Room (2813) with King Bed
The Deluxe High Street View Room is one of the two guestroom categories of Shangri-La The Fort, Manila. It measures 45-47 square meters and is available in a king bed or twin-bed configuration. The highlight of this room category is the view over Bonifacio High Street.

We originally booked the Deluxe Room which is the lead-in guestroom category of the hotel. As a Jade member of Shangri-La's Golden Circle loyalty program, I was allowed to check-in as early as 11:00am and I was also accorded with an upgrade to the Deluxe High Street View Room category.

The Deluxe High Street View Rooms are located on the east side of the hotel tower facing Bonifacio High Street with the view of Laguna Lake in the background. We stayed in Room 2813 which is a corner room version of the Deluxe High Street View Room. The corner room is also conveniently accessible from the elevator.

A unique feature of the corner room is the foyer which is separated from the main bedroom by the closet cabinet which has enough storage space for a week-long stay. The luggage rack is also located in the foyer. Next to the closet cabinet is a sliding door that leads to the bathroom.
From the bedroom, there is no direct line of sight from the door, giving a sense of privacy to guests. The layout of the corner room created more open spaces for guests to comfortably move around.
Being a corner room, two sides of the bedroom are lined with floor-to-ceiling glass windows which bathed the interior with twice the amount of natural light. This does not only make the room look brighter, but it also makes it feel more spacious.
While the Deluxe High Street View Room is available in king-bed and twin-bed configurations, the corner room version is only available in king bed configuration. Furthermore, the corner room is only furnished with a one-seater sofa instead of a two-seater sofa. Nonetheless, this further frees up space inside the room.

If you are a member of Shangri-La's Golden Circle loyalty program, you will receive a fruit basket as standard welcome amenities. As a Jade Member, I had the option to choose three amenities. During my stay, I opted for cup noodles (KOKA brand from Singapore), Diet Coke, and local amenity (dried mangoes).

On our most recent stay at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila, we were also provided with a Shangri-La Self Care Kit. This is just one of the in-room safety standards and precautionary measures put in place by Shangri-La The Fort, Manila to address the health and safety concerns of the pandemic:
- #Shangrilacares cleanliness assurance seal will be issued after the cleaning of each room.
- Increased frequency of cleaning and sanitation of all air handling units and fan coil units.
- 12-point stepped up room cleaning regime with hospital-grade disinfectant for frequently touched surfaces.
- Room attendants will only clean the room in the absence of our guests to minimize face-to-face contact.
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) listed disinfectants are used for sanitation.
- A self-care pack consisting of a face mask, hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial wet wipes is provided in-room for every guest’s convenience.
- New cleaning and sanitation technology, i.e., ultra-violet light technology and electrostatic spraying devices are to be utilized.
- Each room's soiled linen will be placed in double-lined sealed bags and laundered at high temperature.

The Deluxe High Street View Room is equipped with a 48-inch flatscreen Smart TV with local and international channels. Wi-Fi internet is available inside the room which is fast enough to support video conference calls.
The air-conditioning worked perfectly to keep the in-room temperature within my preferred range of 18°C-22°C. I also find it very convenient that universal power outlets are also available at the work desk and above the bedside tables.
Shangri-La The Fort, Manila generously provides bottled water: six bottles were placed on the minibar while two bottles are placed in the bathroom. The mini-refrigerator is temporarily emptied during the pandemic. In the meantime, guests can order bottled and canned drinks from the in-room dining menu.
Complimentary Zesta teabags (two of each: Jasmine Tea, English Breakfast, Chamomile Tea, Osmanthus Tea) are found inside the top drawer of the minibar, together with micro-ground coffee sachets, sugar, and instant coffee creamer. You can also find the electronic kettle, mugs, and teaspoons inside the minibar.
We ordered in-room dining almost exclusively during our recent stays at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila. As mentioned earlier, this corner room provided more open space and that made it very convenient to set up the room service trolley.
Our favorite items from the in-room dining menu are the Nasi Goreng and the Nyonya Chicken. We also ordered from Bake House and Raging Bull Burgers and our food was delivered straight to our room.
The Deluxe High Street View Room features an equally spacious bathroom. It is lined with white marble and is fitted with single vanity, a bathtub, a separate walk-in shower, and a top-grade toilet. Towels are also generously provided.
The walk-in shower is fitted with handheld and rainfall showerheads. Water pressure was consistently strong throughout our stay. Hot water would flow from the shower almost instantaneously.
All guests staying at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila are provided with Jasmine & Bergamote bath amenities from the La Collection de Grasse by L'Occitane en Provence. The complete set includes 50ml bottles of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, as well as two bars of perfumed soap.
Thanks to Shangri-La The Fort, Manila for always upgrading us to the Deluxe High Street View Room and assigning us to this room. This is one of the reasons why we remain loyal Golden Circle members. Having stayed in this room four times already, we have grown accustomed to it and really felt at home during our stays. We are looking forward to staying here again.
