New Normal Update
The Horizon Club Lounge at Edsa Shangri-La Manila remains closed while Metro Manila is placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ). Guests who booked a Horizon Club Room or Suite, as well as Golden Circle Diamond members, can still enjoy their Horizon Club benefits at the Lobby Lounge.
If you are staying in a Tower Wing Horizon Executive Room or a Tower Wing Deluxe Suite, this is great news for you because the Lobby Lounge is also located in the Tower Wing. This means that you no longer need to walk all the way to the Garden Wing where the Horizon Club Lounge is located.
Horizon Club Benefits
A Horizon Club Lounge welcome letter will be handed to you upon check-in at the front office. Below are the Horizon Club benefits listed in the welcome letter as of January 2021:

Horizon Club benefits are accorded to up to two registered guests staying in the same room. Please note that afternoon tea and evening cocktails are to be consumed at the Lobby Lounge only. Soda may be delivered to your room.
Afternoon Tea
You can enjoy the afternoon tea anytime from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Just tell the lounge attendant that you are availing of the Horizon Club Afternoon Tea. As soon as you are seated, the lounge attendant will offer you drinks from the beverage menu:

In our case, we ordered chilled orange juice and ginger ale. When our Afternoon Tea Set arrived, we then ordered oolong tea and cappuccino. Please note that the Afternoon Tea Set served to Horizon Club guests only includes scones, sweet pastries, and cakes. I do hope that they replace some of the pastries with tea sandwiches.
During our visit, the Afternoon Tea set served to us included mini banana bread, financier, cookies, madeleine, scones and jam, cheesecake, pecan tart, seasonal fruits, and Funky Monkey chocolate bar. The menu changes on a day-to-day basis.
Evening Cocktails
Evening cocktails run from 5:00pm to 7:00pm daily. The Lobby Lounge did not get too busy, considering it was a long weekend during our stay. The lounge attendant recognized us and immediately had us seated and offered with drinks from the alcoholic beverage menu:

We ordered Prosecco and Whiskey Sour. A platter of assorted cheeses and a basket of soft rolls were also served to us. Instead of a canapes buffet set-up, plated canapes are served to every Horizon Club guest.
The canapes menu changes every day and consists of cold appetizers, soup of the day, a selection of hot dishes, and dessert. It is important that you inform the lounge attendants if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions. This will allow them to prepare alternative canapes.
First to be served were the cold appetizers. The platter inluded egg mayo sandwich, Parma ham, Emmental cheese, olives, and seasonal fruits. I particularly love the smoked turkey and cream cheese wrap. I wasn't able to finish the spicy tuna maki rolls. I ordered ginger ale to accompany these appetizers.
Next to be served was the soup of the day. The beef noodle soup was flavorful and generously served with egg noodles. It warms the tummy and prepares it for the hot dishes. In the meantime, I enjoyed another glass of prosecco.
The featured hot dish of the day is sweet and sour fish served with garlic French beans and jasmine rice. Consistent with my previous Horizon Club Lounge experiences here at Edsa Shangri-La Manila, the Horizon Club evening cocktails experience here at the Lobby Lounge can also pass as dinner.
As mentioned earlier, the hotel can arrange an alternative dish for you should you have food allergies or dietary restrictions. For those allergic to seafood, the alternative dish offered that evening was this ribeye steak served with potato wedges and buttered vegetables. The steak went really well with red wine.
The evening ended with this sharing platter of dessert. Those macarons look very delightful but I enjoyed the chocolate symphony cake and the matcha raspberry cake the most. We ordered cappuccino to pair with the dessert. This intimate dining experience lasted for two full hours.
