Oori Korean Restaurant at the Sheraton Manila Hotel recently launched its Unlimited Korean BBQ promotion which is currently available every Wednesday to Sunday for lunch (12:00nn - 2:30pm) and dinner (6:00pm - 9:30pm).
For ₱2,450 nett per person, you enjoy unlimited servings of banchan (5 varieties), noodle dish of the day, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew with beef), Spanish pork belly, beef top blade, boneless chicken thigh, lettuce leaves, and steamed rice. The promo also includes one serving of bingsu per person.
Tables at Oori Korean Restaurant are fitted with smokeless Korean BBQ grills and nonstick grill plates. The service was very attentive and efficient. Empty dishes were immediately cleared and BBQ items were quickly replenished. The grilling plates and charcoal bricks were also replaced regularly by the staff.
Unlimited Korean BBQ
Assorted Banchan - Five varieties of banchan will be served upon seating. The variety changes but during my visit, there was kimchi, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), cucumber pickles, stir-fried fish cake, and stir-fried dried anchovies. I reordered several servings of kimchi and geotjeori.
Noodle Dish of the Day - Japchae was the noodle dish of the day during my visit. It wasn't soupy nor oily and it had a well-balanced saltiness and sweetness. The noodles were chewy and not starchy. The vegetables were crunchy.
Doenjang Jjigae - This soybean paste stew with beef is a classic Korean dish that is often served as a side dish for Korean BBQ. It is lightly salty, fragrant, very rich in umami from the fermented soybean paste. The stew also has zucchini, tofu, and a generous amount of sliced beef.
Assorted Meat - Choices include Spanish pork belly, beef top blade, and boneless chicken thigh. The pork slices are the fastest to be cooked. On the other hand, lean beef tends to get dry when overcooked, so keep an eye while grilling them. The chicken thighs take the longest time to cook as the slices are quite thick.
The most basic way to enjoy your Korean BBQ is to dipping them to ssamjang (dipping sauce) or gochujang (chili paste). Korean BBQ goes well with steamed rice. You can also cut your Korean BBQ into bit-sized pieces and using a lettuce leaf, wrap a piece together with ssamjang and kimchi.
Bingsu - You can end your meal with bingsu for dessert. Please note that that this is a single serving only that is good for one person.
