Palace Suite at Hotel Okura ManilaLuxurious Accommodation with Contemporary Japanese-Western Design

Palace Suite at Hotel Okura Manila

The Palace Suite at Hotel Okura Manila is luxuriously spacious at 58 square meters and features a Japanese spa bathroom. The bedroom has a unique darkroom interior dominated by jet black and dark wood. The overall mood is cozy and mysterious.

The Palace Suite has the same floor area as the Deluxe Room, but with an open floor plan, the former feels more spacious than the latter. The Palace Suite also has a very masculine vibe reminiscent of upscale New York-style apartments.

The bedroom is also filled with Japanese design elements such as the tatami mat pattern on the ceiling. I absolutely love the lightbox effect of the bathroom encased in Japanese-style sliding doors.

The Palace Suite is equipped with a 55-inch LED flat-screen TV which comes with a Sony soundbar and subwoofer. I played my Japanese trap and bass playlist on Youtube and the sound quality was amazing. I was also able to connect my Nintendo Switch via HDMI.

The minibar cabinet stands next to the TV and it houses a mini-refrigerator and a Nespresso machine. Complimentary bottled water, coffee capsules, and Harney & Sons branded tea bags are provided and replenished daily.

If you want natural light, you can open the curtains using the bedside touchscreen control panel. Desk-level power outlets with universal socket are also conveniently available next to the bed. Subject to availability, you can also request for an air purifier to be set up in the room.

Next to the glass window is a seating area furnished with a lounge sofa and a multi-purpose table. It did function very well as a dining table. However, due to its dark interior, I don't recommend the Palace Suite for business stays. The Deluxe Room is an excellent choice for business travelers.

A shoji sliding door separates the bathroom from the bedroom. The transition from wood to black marble flooring also serves as a visual division between the two spaces. Similar to the Hinoki-yu Room, the volcanic stone wall of the bathroom creates a private indoor onsen feel.

The bathroom also features a double vanity and a separate water closet equipped with a TOTO washlet. The bidet seat is heated and is controlled by a wireless remote. The highlight of the bathroom is the Hinoki soaking tub.

When filled with hot water, the Hinoki cypress wood will release its aroma to the water and the bathroom will be filled with its fragrance. Here are some important reminders when using the Hinoki soaking tub:

  • Take a warm shower first before using the tub.
  • The Hinoki soaking tub must only be filled with water.
  • Do not use bath salts, body wash, shower gel, or bath bombs as these will damage the Hinoki cypress wood.
  • Do not drink any beverage while using the tub other than water.
  • Do not eat while using the tub.
  • Do not use the tub if you have heart disease or high blood pressure.

Make sure that you can tolerate the temperature of the water, somewhere between 37°C and 40°C. I suggest you fill the tub with 1/3 hot water and 2/3 cold water.

Guests staying in a Palace Suite are provided with bath amenities by Aromatherapy Associates. This is the same luxury brand of toiletries provided at The Okura Prestige Bangkok and The Okura Prestige Taipei.

A walk-in closet is also located inside the bathroom. There's plenty of space to hang clothes as well as storage space for your luggage. You can also find two sets of yukata (lounging kimono) which you can wear while relaxing in your room.
