SHERATON CEBU MACTAN
The Guestroom Ocean View is one of the two guestroom categories of Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort. The Guestroom Ocean View is one category higher than the lead-in category, the Guestroom Courtyard View. Measuring 50 square meters, the Guestroom Ocean View features an east-facing balcony with a view of the sea.
I stayed in room 1109 on Sheraton Cebu Mactan's opening day, 1 September 2022. My room is located in the middle of the 11th floor, the topmost floor of the resort's Tower A. Here is the view from the balcony which directly faces the sea.
The Guestroom Ocean View is available with a king bed or two double beds. The room also features a round table intended for in-room dining, but can very well function as a workstation. There is also a 50-inch LED TV with local and international channels, including premium HD channels.
Guestroom Ocean View has a basic coffee and tea-making facility. Guests are provided with Nescafe instant coffee and Dilmah tea bags. These, together with bottled drinking water, are replenished daily. Espresso drinks and freshly brewed coffee are available from the in-room dining menu or at Sa Sitio, the resort's grab-and-go located on the lobby level.
Similar to my stay at Sheraton Manila Hotel, I also had an excellent sleep experience here at Sheraton Cebu Mactan. This is all thanks to the comfortable Sheraton Signature Bed. The air-conditioning also worked perfectly with the in-room temperature kept within the 18-20°C range.
On either side of the bed are two nightstands with a desk-level USB charging port and a universal wall socket. Controls to the lights are also found here. There is also an FM Alarm Clock Radio which also functions as a Bluetooth speaker.
The complimentary wifi internet was fast enough to support video streaming on YouTube as well as video calls on Zoom and MS Teams. This is good news if you will be doing some work during your stay.
The in-room dining menu features international cuisine including all-day breakfast, pasta, and sandwiches, as well as Western, Asian, and Filipino mains. Here is the Pork Humba, a Cebuano dish, that I ordered for lunch on my arrival day.
Here's the balcony. It has enough space to fit a single lounge chair. You can want the sunrise from here since this is an east-facing balcony. The sun sets on the other side, so it doesn't get really hot here in the afternoon.
Here's another look at the room. It has a simple and clean design, with an understated luxury vibe. I love how they were able to combine contemporary design with natural materials. Filipino design elements are also used in the interior.
The Guestroom Ocean View has an equally spacious bathroom. It has a single vanity, a separate walk-in shower, and separate water closet, and a free-standing soaking tub. Two sliding doors separate the bathroom from the bedroom.
The walk-in shower features a rainfall shower mounted on the ceiling and a handheld shower mounted on the wall. There is a shower bench for a comfortable seated shower experience. Water pressure was consistently strong during my stay. Hot water was almost instantaneous and the temperature was easy to regulate.
All guestrooms and suites are provided with Warm Oak body and bath amenities by the New Jersey-based Gilchrist & Soames. Pump bottles containing shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are mounted on the wall next to the handheld shower. The Warm Oak collection features the citrusy scent of Moroccan grapefruit plus the warm fragrance of coriander and oud.
The closet cabinet is also located inside the bathroom. There is ample storage space for a weekend stay with additional upper compartments to store your bags. The bathrobes, bedroom slippers, iron, and ironing board are stored in here. You can also find an in-room safe that can fit a laptop.
