Sample Plates
I started my meal with a bowl of Miso Ramen to warm my tummy. The broth was of superior quality that you wouldn't usually find in a buffet. My ramen also had a generous portion of chashu (braised pork belly) that was super tender. The ajitsuke tamago (ramen egg) also tasted very authentic.
I had more Japanese dishes, this time from the Sushi and Sashimi station. On this plate are salmon, tuna, mackerel, and eel sashimi. I only had two pieces of sushi rolls so as not to get full immediately.
I then moved to the Chinese Station with options of dim sum and Cantonese roast meats. I enjoyed the siomai and har gow. There's also vegetable dumplings available. I also had the roast duck which was very tender and the fat would melt in your mouth. The char siu (barbecued pork) had the sweet and smokey taste I like. I also had the stir-fried tofu.
I love Indian and Middle Eastern food and I made sure I try some of these flavorful dishes offered in the buffet. I had the Lamb Ouzi, a spiced rice dish from the Middle East, and partnered it with assorted Indian tandoori and curries. I love the array of flavors and colors on this plate.
It's finally time to try one of the premium items of the Sunday brunch. I had two slices of the roast beef and I requested it grilled to medium doneness. I paired the steak with grilled vegetables and baked potato. I also had a portion of the Salmon Wellington which tasted naturally sweet.
From the dessert station, I had an assortment of mini macarons, as well as eclair, cream puff, creme brulee, and hazelnut praline.
Here are the Carmen's Best ice cream flavors I tried. Single-serve cups are served in the buffet and you can have as many as you want. The Strawberry had the natural tart and sweet taste of fresh strawberries. The Brazilian Coffee had an intense bitter coffee flavor that I love.
The Madagascar Vanilla ice cream contains vanilla seeds so you get the natural taste of vanilla. I had another serving of the Madagascar Vanilla ice cream and poured a shot of espresso over it to make an affogato.
