The Village Square
The Village Square is the communal space located in the heart of the resort, accessible either from the lobby or from the Sanur beachfront. The Village Square consists of four restaurants: Blue Oven (Mediterranean cuisine), Fire Fox (Asian steakhouse), Deli & Bakery (desserts and refreshment), and Wok Wok (Indonesian cuisine). Cultural performances as well as social events are also hosted here.
In the morning, the entire Village Square becomes the resort's breakfast venue. Guests are free to choose to be seated in any of the indoor and outdoor dining areas of all four restaurants in the Village Square.
Highlights & Must-Try Dishes
Here are some of the breakfast items I tried from the Village Market Breakfast menu. Portion size of most dishes is good for one person. The menu is also subject to change. The attached menu is just for your reference.
Nasi Gurih is a coconut rice dish from Aceh, Indonesia. It is served with chicken, potato cake, scrambled eggs, tempe goreng (fried fermented soybeans), stir-fried noodles, and sambal. This goes well with many local dishes on the menu.
Andaz Prawn Omelette is the signature breakfast egg dish of Andaz Bali. It is an umami-rich omelette with a generous portion of prawns flavored with shallot, galangal, and kemangi (lemon basil). It went well with the sweet, smokey, and spicy sambal. You can also pair this with the nasi gurih. This is a definite must-try if you are not allergic to seafood.
Soto Madura is a soup dish from the island of Madura in East Java, Indonesia. This is also one of the signature breakfast dishes of Andaz Bali. The soup consists of beef shanks braised in spiced broth with lemongrass, turmeric, ginger, leeks, crispy shallot, and lime. The broth is very comforting. This dish is traditionally eaten with steamed rice or may be enjoyed on its own as a soup dish.
Bubur Suro is a special rice porridge traditionally served during the Islamic New Year. This is also a signature breakfast dish at Andaz Bali. The porridge includes chicken curry, scrambled egg, potato cakes, and topped with crispy shallot. Make every day a special day with this rice porridge.
Sate Ayam, the classic chicken satay, grilled, and glazed with peanut sauce. This savory, nutty, and mildly sweet dish goes well with the nasi gurih or steamed rice (available upon request). Don't forget to squeeze the lime onto the satay.
The Banana Chocolate Gyoza are potstickers filled with banana and chocolate served with a sweet and tart tamarind sauce.
The signature French Toast of Andaz Bali is made with brioche as its base, topped with a caramelized slice of pineapple and coconut ice cream, and finally garnished with toasted coconut chips. This is super yummy.
The Matcha Bircher Muesli is basically a bircher muesli with matcha powder. It includes oats, apple bits, lime, coconut milk, chopped cashew, mint, and assorted berries. It has a slight bitterness from the matcha and sweetness from the apples.
My Seasonal Fruit Plate included passion fruit, dragon fruit, pineapple, jackfruit, honeydew, papaya, watermelon, papaya, apple, and grapes.
I had Cappuccino which is made with Andaz Blend Coffee by Tanamera (locally sourced in Bali, Indonesia). They also serve latte, macchiato, americano, Balinese black coffee, and Balinese milk coffee. You can also customize your coffee with skimmed milk, soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, and condensed milk.
