Sample Dishes
Here are some of the breakfast items I tried at Cafe TATU. Please note that the menu changes every day and the items below may not be available on your day of visit:
Apam Balik & Teh Tarik - Apam Balik is similar to a crispy crepe that is folded in half and stuffed with chopped peanuts. I paired it with Teh Tarik. This tea drink blended with condensed milk is considered the national drink of Malaysia.
Chicken Sambal Omelet - This is a specialty omelet made with pulled chicken and sambal sauce. It is very flavorful and mildly spicy. You can enjoy it with ketchup and local hot sauce. I topped it with cilantro for extra flavor.
Coto Makassar - This is a comforting beef stew with the aromatic flavors of garlic, lemongrass, galangal, coriander, cumin, and pepper. It is traditionally eaten with ketupat (compressed rice).
Nasi Lemak - Considered Malaysia's national dish, nasi lemak consists of rice cooked in coconut milk served with boiled egg, slices of cucumber, anchovies, peanuts, sambal sauce, and a meat dish. This one has spiced fried chicken.
Assorted Asian Dishes - This plate includes fried rice, steamed cabbage with anchovies, Chinese scrambled egg, char kuay teow, and salted duck egg.
Roti & Curry - If you want a breakfast that is packed with flavors, then you should try this combination. It is best to dip the roti in the curry.
