From the A La Carte Menu
The A La Carte Menu at Shang Palace features a wide selection of seafood dishes from appetizers to soups, to noodles and main dishes using locally and responsibly sourced abalone, prawns, crabs, and fish. Shang Palace also serves chicken, beef, duck, and vegetarian dishes. Shang Palace does not serve dishes with pork or lard.
Steamed Shrimp and Chicken Siu Mai - Very plump and juicy and full of umami. The freshness of the shrimp gave it a sweet taste. These tasted better than many pork versions I tried outside of Malaysia.
Signature Shrimp Dumplings - The shrimps were very fresh. They were bouncy, juicy and tasted sweet. I enjoyed it with soy sauce and chili sauce.
Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Chinese Herb and Dried Scallops - Double boiling brought more of the flavors from the chicken and the herbs into the soup. The added scallops enhanced the fragrance and umami of the soup. This was a very comforting soup dish.
Stir-Fried Prawns with Spicy Chili Paste - We ordered this for our main course. The prawns were huge, and plump, and the juices are locked into the meat. The sauce was spicy but not super spicy, so you could still taste the umami of the prawns.
Wok-Fried Flat Noodles with Seafood and Shrimp Chili Paste - We ordered an individual serving of this dish and the portion was quite generous. I love the taste of wok hei of this dish. The stir-fried prawns and squid were nicely done as well.
Chilled Yam Pudding with Sesame Ball and Ice Cream - Three of my favorite Chinese desserts in one. The chilled yam pudding was firm and rich in yam flavor. The sesame ball was super crunchy while the coconut ice cream was very refreshing and comforting.
