Jasmine Restaurant, the premier Chinese restaurant of New World Makati Hotel, recently launched an expanded a la carte menu featuring new dishes that will complement the restaurant's classic dishes. The new menu also includes four new signature cocktails especially created for Jasmine Restaurant. Here are some of the new dishes we have tried so far.

Soft Shell Crab, Mango Salsa, Sweet Chili, Bao Bun - a seafood version of steamed bun sandwich with battered fried soft shell crab drizzled with mango-salsa and sweet chili. The batter was crunchy while the soft shell crab was moist and tender. The sweetness of the mango-salsa balanced the savory taste of the dish.
Deep-Fried Stuffed Crab Claw - Crab meat was coated with batter and panko and then deep-fried until golden brown. The batter locked in all the flavors and juices of the crab. Best dipped in sweet and sour sauce. This is a must-try dish either as an appetizer or paired with fried rice.
Crispy Shrimp Ball with Cheese - Minced shrimp stuffed with cheese and coated with batter and panko. Fried until golden brown with a super crunchy crust, moist shrimp ball with molten cheese inside. An explosion of umami flavors that complement each other.
Crispy Stuffed Eggplant with Sweet Spicy Sauce - Slices of eggplant are coated with batter and then fried until the crust is crunchy and golden brown. The dish is then drizzled with a sweet-spicy sauce that gives the dish its sweet umami taste. This is best paired with steamed or fried rice.
Deep-Fried Crispy Golden Mushrooms and Shiitake - The crispy golden mushrooms were sprinkled with five spice and chili powder making it a great companion to other dishes. It is also an addicting snack on its own.
Deep-Fried Spare Ribs with "Chan Kong Thye" Vinegar Sauce - This classic ribs with black vinegar sauce was made with the premium Chan Kong Thye black sweet rice vinegar. The meat was so tender and the sauce was very flavorful. The sweet taste of this dish makes for a good combination with other savory dishes.
Beef Tenderloin in Black Pepper Sauce - The beed was super tender and juice and the sauce was well balanced with not too strong pepper flavor. This dish goes well with steamed rice or fried rice.
Seafood Fried Rice with Conpoy, Egg White, and Pine Nuts - This fried rice dish has a delicate seafood flavor, with additional texture from the pine nuts. This versatile rice dish goes well with any dish.
Mango Pudding - This refreshing mango dessert is served chilled with coconut cream sauce on the side. The sweet and tart taste of the dessert is an excellent palate cleanser to end a flavorful meal.
Yin Yang - This is one of the four new signature cocktails of Jasmine. This one is a gin sour cocktail made with Martin Miller’s gin with elderflower cordial, lemon juice, rose buds tea syrup, egg white, and chili. It had a floral taste with mild spiciness in the end.
