Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a five-star ultra-luxury resort located in Ubud, the cultural and spiritual center of Bali, Indonesia. Mandapa has a total of 60 suites and villas spread across the 10-hectare property.
Mandapa is designed as a Balinese village that is nestled in a valley along the sacred Ayung River. The resort is flanked by hills covered by a dense forest, creating a secluded sanctuary where guests can disconnect from external distractions, rediscover onself, and relax one's mind, body, and soul.
The centerpiece of the resort is this three-acre rice paddy field with a traditional Balinese lumbung, a rice barn on stilts. Guests are welcome to wander around the rice paddies to fully immerse in Balinese nature and culture.
Hotel Brand: Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a luxury hotel brand operated by Marriott International under its Distinctive Luxury brand portfolio. Mandapa is part of a collection of rare estates, set apart from the world, where heartfelt care and craftsmanship are felt at every turn. As of June 2024, Mandapa is one of the only seven Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties around the world.
Arrival at Wantilan Lobby
Arriving guests at Mandapa are welcomed at the resort's open-air Wantilan Lobby. A Wantilan is a traditional Balinese pavilion where members of the community can congregate. Musical gamelan and traditional dances are also performed here.
Mandapa's Wantilan Lobby has a seating area that overlooks the resort. During our stay at Mandapa, our arrival was welcomed by a refreshing drink called loloh cemcem. It is a traditional Balinese herbal medicine drink made with young coconut water, kecemcem leaves, lemon, and honey.
You will also be introduced to your Patih, your personal butler for your entire stay. Your Patih will make sure that you have a perfect holiday, from restaurant reservation, to planning your itinerary, to arranging your transportation.
Your Patih will also drive you to your booked suite or villa where check-in is done. Along the way, your Patih will also show you the various facilities that you can enjoy during your stay. Check-out is also done in your booked suite or villa by your Patih.

The One-Bedroom River Front Pool Villa at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve measures 430sqm and features a 30sqm outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a lush garden and a separate pavilion housing the living area that overlooks the Ayung River. The bedroom and the bathroom are located in the main villa.
Dining Options
Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve offers five distinct dining venues serving local Balinese cuisine as well as Western and Asian specialties. Most of the ingredients are sourced from the resort’s organic garden and local suppliers. Private dining experiences can also be arranged at various locations around the resort
At the helm of the culinary team is Mandapa's Executive Chef, Chef Bayu Retno Timur. Chef Bayu has more than two decades of culinary experience and has worked with some of the biggest luxury hotel brands in Bali.

Sawah Terrace
Sawah Terrace is the all-day dining and signature Indonesian restaurant of Mandapa. The restaurant is set on a forest cliff overlooking the Ayung River where guests can enjoy classic Balinese cuisine using traditional and seasonal ingredients sourced from around Indonesia. Breakfast Buffet at Mandapa
The Breakfast Buffet at Mandapa is served daily at Sawah Terrace. Food options include local Balinese, regional Indonesian, pan-Asian, and Western cuisines. There are live cooking stations serving noodle soup dishes, pancakes, and waffles. Guests can also order unlimited servings of dishes from the breakfast a la carte menu. The Pool Bar
The main swimming pool of Mandapa is located next to the rice paddy field is open to all in-house guests of the resort. One side of the pool has a view of the rice paddy while the other side overlooks the Ayung River. Guests can order drinks and snacks from the adjacent Pool Bar. Open daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Fitness & Wellness Facilities
Mandapa Spa is set amid the lush Ubud rainforest, creating a sanctuary to relax and rejuvenate through Balinese-inspired treatments. The spa has five treatment rooms facing the Ayung River, a yoga pavilion, and a vitality pool.
The resort's Fitness Center is open 24/7 and features treadmills, stationary bicycles, stair climbers, free weights, and strength-training machines. Other facilities include a steam room and a sauna room.
Disconnect to Reconnect Wellness Program
Guests staying at Mandapa are invited to participate in the Disconnect to Reconnect Wellness Program designed to cultivate mindfulness, encourage inner reflection, and provide a path to rejuvenation. Transportation
Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is located around 35 kilometers from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, the main domestic and international gateway for travelers to Bali, Indonesia.
- Private Transport Service - You can pre-arrange your airport transfer with a third-party transport service provider. Airport pick-up should be booked at least 24 hours in advance. You can contact Mr. Komang Wirawan of WP Bali Driver Tour and Service at +62 812-3710-1901 (WhatsApp). Fare is IDR 400,000 per way as of April 2024. Travel time is around 2 hours.
- Free Shuttle Service in Ubud - Mandapa provides a scheduled shuttle service between the resort and Ubud city center. The shuttle leaves the resort every 2 hours from 10:00am until 6:00pm. Drop-off point is at Puri Lukisan Museum. Return trip to the resort starts at 10:20am.
- Moving Around - I recommend using the GRAB ride-hailing app when traveling around Ubud. You can approach the resort's concierge for assistance with the app.
